These lamps produce long-wave ultraviolet light. The black glass keeps visible radiation inside the tube and only allows ultraviolet rays to pass. They can be used for special appplications in physics, analysis (hairline cracks), fluorescence excitation, special applications in photochemistry and reprographics, in photo-medicine and photo-biology and for decoration (disco, night clubs, etc.)
